The university should support having an advocate within UUPS. The research accompanying this review found many university police departments have employed full-time victim advocates. These advocates are in addition to others who may work for Student Wellness or at a Counseling Center. These advocates can be a tremendous resource to the investigating officer and can provide support to a victim as she or he progresses through the criminal justice system.
